Our Origins

Founded by Wanda, The Teapothecary is a proud queer-owned enterprise built on passion, resilience, and a commitment to excellence. After immigrating to Canada
18 years ago to attend Dalhousie University, Wanda transformed her lifelong love
of tea and history—cultivated during her youth in New England—into a flourishing business. Despite facing a learning disability that delayed her discovery of a deep passion for reading, she has consistently turned challenges into opportunities for growth.

As a single mother, Wanda has navigated adversity with determination and strength. Her journey includes overcoming the loss of her home and the historic Victorian church that housed her business in a devastating fire. Yet, through these hardships, she has rebuilt and reimagined the Teapothecary, ensuring that every blend tells a story of triumph and perseverance.

Beyond her entrepreneurial endeavours, Wanda is an accomplished performer and
artist, actively collaborating with non-profit organizations to give back to the community. Today, the Teapothecary stands as a beacon of innovation, inclusivity, and resilience—a brand that not only offers exceptional teas but also inspires with its story of courage and reinvention.

Our Mission

Teapothecary teas are all natural, and designed to support environmental concerns deliciously. Teapothecary uses a percentage of our sales to support Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility efforts in our community and world.
